Court transcripts
Michigan requires court reporters and recorders to be licensed and certified through the state, so an uncertified transcriber cannot produce the official record. As in most licensure states, this means a transcript intended to serve as the record of a proceeding must come from a certified reporter rather than from a transcription vendor, however accurate that vendor output is. Transcripts prepared for case preparation, discovery review, and internal use are not subject to that restriction.
