Court transcripts
Pennsylvania governs court reporting through a uniform statewide chapter rather than leaving it to individual courts. Whoever takes, records, or transcribes a proceeding must certify that the transcript is true and correct and meets the format specifications set by the Supreme Court, and where more than one person contributed, each certifies their own portion. Court recorders are recertified every three years. Pennsylvania also has an explicit redaction mechanism: on its own motion or a party motion, the court may order the reporter or transcriptionist to redact confidential, personal, and financial identifiers before the transcript is filed.
